£10 ~ From vintage Macallan with ice balls made of highland water, to surgically precise bartending tools, to bacon... a peek into the secret new Beverly Hills bar tucked away inside the Montage.
Just got back from the launch party for £10, The Macallan Bar at Montage Beverly Hills! This newest addition to the Montage opens officially this Saturday. It is a very intimate bar which is reservation only and stocked with an amazing selection of Macallan scotch. Tonight though the party spilled out onto Scarpetta's second floor and the scotch was flowing! It was a fun event filled with delicious drinks, beautiful drink crafting tools, and fascinating ice options.
£10 is tucked away up the stairs and in the back of Scarpetta. Without the ice sculpture it's actually kind of hard to find...
... but once you do locate it you'll find yourself in a very private setting. Although the bar is visually similar to the restaurant outside, with a warm wood paneled feel, it offers a distinctly different experience.
Macallan is the primary scotch and the bar boasts a wide selection including many specialties and rare vintages, all of which are served out of Lalique glasses shown on display here.
The bartenders' tools were all neatly laid out like a surgeon's in an operating room. Their arsenal is impressive...
... and features many finely crafted gems like these Japanese made tools for carving ice.
Even the bottles for the bitters, some of which they make in house, are both beautiful and highly functional. Their spouts are machined to pour out perfect dashes every time, regardless of the volume of liquid inside.
£10 provides a wide array of options for chilling your drink; all of which are wheeled around on a cart and prepared table side. The opaque Macallan ice balls are made from the same water that the scotch was made from and imported all the way from the Highlands of Scotland.
The clear ice is carved out from the center of the ice blocks for that crystal clear purity.
While Scotch is certainly its main focus, £10 also offers a collection of cocktails, Krug Champagne, and other top shelf spirits. To accompany the drinks, the bar has teamed up with the restaurant to provide a series of small plates of high end bar food like these giant sheaves of bacon. For mixers they are developing their own tonic water and also stock Mexican coke as well as sodas from Fever-tree. £10 is its own private oasis hidden away deep inside of a restaurant, tucked inside a hotel, in the heart of Beverly Hills.
