The hotel is located at Hollywood and Vine. With an address as Hollywood as they come, The Redbury uses its location as inspiration for a modern spin on classic silver screen glamour.

Downstairs at Cleo they feature their full cocktail menu. The mixologists have had a lot of fun developing the drinks program here and offer many unusual but delicious options. There is the Mediterranean Margarita made with a housemade fig syrup. They boil down sugar, figs, cinnamon, nutmeg, cumin and other ingredients into something which when sampled by itself tastes like they've managed to melt down Christmas. In the drink the syrup takes a back seat to the lime, so this margarita still tastes like a margarita. The spices help dry the drink out leaving the final cocktail not overly sweet. Instead it contains an interesting depth to its flavor. The fig syrup was originally destined for a Manhattan, and while it's not on the menu you can ask to try the bourbon/fig combination.

The Golden Midas mixes crushed orange, Hennessy Black, Domaine Canton, with ginger beer. This drink pairs the strong citrus flavor from the orange and the Hennessy with the spicy ginger notes from both the Domaine Canton and the ginger beer. Doubling up on each side of this combination creates really big flavors in this bright drink. The ginger beer leads the way in flavor and with its carbonation this drink is really great for a hot day.

Upstairs and through a curtain lies The Library bar and lounge.

They offer many of Cleo's signature cocktails, but provide a very different atmosphere in which to enjoy them.

The Vinebury is somewhat of a cocktail paradox. It is alternately cooling and spicy. With vodka, cucumber, basil and serrano chilies, its flavor moves in waves across your palate. The cucumber comes first, followed by the pleasant tingling sensation brought on by the serranos. The tingling soon gives way to a gentle burn which prompts you to drink again for some cucumber relief... which gives way to more tingling and enters you into a delicious if slightly masochistic spiral.

The Lotus Flower tastes strongly of the blackberries with which it is made and garnished. The vodka, lemon, and elderflower liqueur keep this drink tasting light, fresh, and easy to drink.

The Library opens on to The Glade, which provides yet another venue for enjoying your cocktails. Portable heaters ring the courtyard with pillars of fire in the winter to ward off the chill.

After the Vinebury I thought I'd try another of their spicier offerings.

The Clemintina bring back the basil and serrano chiles but pairs them with orange juice and a clementine vodka. The result is more tingle and less burn. The sweetness pairs well with the spice providing a delicious if slightly less adventurous ride.

The cocktails are delicious in whichever venue at The Redbury that you choose to enjoy them. The fun that they clearly had in creating this experience carries all the way through from their opening concept to the bottom of your glass.
