The new Worship Street Whistling Shop in Shoreditch, London does a fantastically decadent Victorian style lunch. This hot new watering hole is as much about the food as it is about the drinks.
Just take a look at that gorgeous oyster amidst a sea of jasmine mist! You've got to love the painstaking detailing, gorgeous crockery and glassware. A fantastic new spot for lazy lunches, happy hours and late night tipples. Here are a few photos from our lunch at the Whistling Shop!
Fun, Victorian & Dickensian themes run through the Whistling Shop's website and shop, offering a great contrast with their ultramodern drinks lab.
Love the decor, that fabulous ceiling and indoor streetlamp!
The cocktail menu is extensive and full of surprises with cheekily named drinks like the Radiation Aged Cocktail and (Substitute) Bosom Caresser. We opted for the Exploding Vodka Martini (shown above) and a Black Cat Martini, featuring removed cream (yes that's gin distilled with cream, then with the cream removed!).
A beautiful starter of "Meat Mosaic Served with Pickled Mushrooms and Toasted Sourdough Bread".
My starter of "Braised Pork Belly Served with Wild Garlic, Baby Carrots and Pearl Onions" was too good to share. Delicious!
A little oyster treat from their own oyster farm in Scotland in a mist of Jasmine. Beautiful (and very tasty)!
Generous mains on beautiful plates. This is the "Rib Eye Steak Served with Hand Cut Chips, Watercress, Roasted Wild Mushrooms, Violet Artichokes and Bearnasie Sauce," cooked to perfection. Love the Jenga look of the chips!
My extra tasty "Rabbit and Smoked Pancetta Hot Pot Served with Sauté Potatoes".
A peek inside the drinks lab where all the magic happens. We'll have to head back to sample some more concoctions!
